Darby Fire Company Needs You (to Volunteer) in 2022!

Since 1775, Darby has provided the most aggressive approaches to saving lives and fighting fires. We expect the unexpected than conquer it.

As 2021 draws to a close, it is the perfect time to make New Year’s resolutions that will change your life and the lives of others. Volunteering for Darby Fire Company #1 is a great way to make your community safer and help your neighbors on their worst days.

Since 1775, Darby has provided the most aggressive approaches to saving lives and fighting fires with the best trained and most committed volunteers. Fighting fires can take many surprising turns. That’s why their team is trained to expect the unexpected then conquer it. It is also why it has a long history of success.

And the comradery among team members is like joining a second family. To a person, volunteers say that everyone has each other’s back and that they have developed life-long friendships.

“There is really no other bond like that of being a member of Darby Fire Company #1. We are tight group of like-minded individuals with a common purpose in life: serving each other and serving the Darby community,” says Jim Booth, Chair of the Recruitment & Retention Committee.

If you’re ready to serve this mission, Darby Fire Company#1 is ready for you.

As a volunteer, there are several ways you can help serve your community. The training and equipment are free, and we will find a way for you to use your talents.

Firefighter – As a volunteer firefighter, you’ll learn the skills to keep your neighborhood safe. Training includes learning how to advance a hose line, perform search-and-rescue operations, and position ladders strategically.

Fire Police – Assist at the scene of an emergency by helping to direct traffic, crowds, and working with other first responders.

Training Members – Teens ages 15 to 17 can help at the station, assist firefighters at the scene of an emergency, and begin training to become a full member once they turn 18. Becoming a training member looks great on college applications.

Administrative Volunteer – For those looking for other ways to help besides fighting fires, there are plenty of opportunities available. Administrative volunteers work behind the scenes doing important business for the company to keep us up and running. Positions include:

· Office Personnel/Data Entry/Accounting/Finance

· Logistics/Fleet Management

· Fundraising/Marketing/Grant and Proposal Writing

· Recruiting & Retention/Public Relations/Public Education

· Vehicle Maintenance

· Business Professionals

If any of these roles interest you, the New Year is a great time to start. We provide all the training and equipment you need to answer calls, and you will not find anything more rewarding than giving back to your community.
